I've got a friend on a Saga river cruise at the moment after last years was cancelled due to the BA problems at Hethrow

Thanks for an interesting read.

We are continually attracted to a river cruise ... and then not! I guess whilst we remain so undecided it may be best not to take the plunge? The Douro and the South of France still sound attractive though ...

Thanks for the interesting read Sharon. I fancy a Northern Europe River cruise after thoroughly enjoying my Nile Cruise. Only trouble is that it is very expensive. Some lines do offer no-single-supplement cabins but these are often right down at the water level. That doesn't bother me as such but I would be concerned that the noise of the water on the hull might disturb me.
Andrew

Enjoyed cruising since 1995 and have been lucky enough to have sailed with Cunard, P&O, Princess, Celebrity, Fred Olsen, Saga, Portuscale, Marella & CMV - plus one Nile cruise. To come: Azura, Coral Princess & Aurora.

Thank you for posting your review Sharon. I do have the Saga brochures (now I am old enough :D )

Where did you embark the boat? (Apologies if I missed it in the report).

Nice review and blog Sharon.

My wife and I started river cruising many years ago, one a year in the beginning but now we find ourselves booking at least two a year in between ocean cruises.

At the risk of digressing from Sharon's thread I can offer you a river cruise insight into both the Douro...
